International travelers, wishing to enter or land in Italy must take into account the regulations which disciplines the entry into this country. Two different situation are possible:

  • People coming from the European Union

The entry is regulated by the Schengen agreements which has allowed to make a common area of free movement among the signatory States and elimining border controls. In this condition, for stay not exceeding three months, only a valid Identity Card is required.

  • People not coming from the European Union

The foreigner have to hold a passport (or another valid travel document) and a visa which authorizes his entry. Nevertheless, for stay not exceeding three months, people coming from the following Country are exempt from the obligation of visa: Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Macao, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, South Korea, Singapore, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela.

 

Visas are issued by Italian embassies and consulates in the country in which the applicant is regularly residing.

Although a general guide for Italian visa is available on the web site listed below, the required documents for visa application depend on the nationality and position of the applicants, and the purpose and period of visiting Italy. Please contact your local Italian Embassy or Consulate as soon as possible for visa information and confirm the documents necessary for your visa application and current visa processing time estimates.

If you need official documents from ISMOT - 2007 for your visa application, please request it to the Symposium Chair, Prof. Franco Giannini (registration@ismot2007.org) by attaching the following information for each of visa applicants:

  1. Full Name (If your nationality is Chinese, please give both in English and Chinese)

  2. Nationality

  3. Passport number

  4. Date of Birth

  5. Distinction of Sex

  6. Occupation or Position

  7. Affiliation (including address)

  8. Home address

  9. ISMOT - 2007 Paper-ID (if you are the author of accepted papers)

  10. Tentative schedule of visiting ITALY  (Arrival date and Departure date).

Upon your request, the ISMOT - 2007 Symposium Chairman will send you by airmail the necessary documents such as an official letter of invitation.
